چکیده

Coping with rapid changes in technologies in professional lives requires tools that can persistently train the users. An important task for humans is to control the physical system behaviors with prediction. Though humans learn to perform this task with relative ease over several natural physical systems, engineered physical systems pose a problem as they are often inaccessible for natural interaction. Our research proposes a new architecture of autonomous agents, which allows them to be persistent assistants. These agents learn to perform a given Control based Prediction task over the physical systems by applying a modified Q_Learning algorithm. During this learning the state and actions spaces of physical system are acquired, which are projected as perceptual spaces in which the user can explore to learn to perform the given task. While facilitating such an exploration, the agent learns to support learning by the user by applying a modification of the TD(λ) algorithm. In this paper, we present the architecture of the agent, the learning algorithms, and a solution to some complex implementation issues. This agent is being tested on examples from a number of domains such as electronics, mechatronics and economics.

Adaptive Interfaces for Value-Driven Agents

As autonomous agents perform increasingly important and complex tasks, they have the potential to greatly expand human capabilities. For this collaboration to be successful, a human must be able to effectively communicate goals and preferences to the agent, so the agent's choices will be consistent with those of the human user. We present our plans for integrating two lines of research towards ...

Adaptive systems: from intelligent tutoring to autonomous agents

Computer systems which can automatically alter aspects of their functionality or interface to suit the needs of individuals or groups of users have appeared over the years in a variety of guises. Most recently attention has focused on intelligent interface agents which are seen as specialised, knowledge-based systems acting on behalf of the user in some aspect of the interaction. Similar requir...

Adaptive Neural Network Method for Consensus Tracking of High-Order Mimo Nonlinear Multi-Agent Systems

This paper is concerned with the consensus tracking problem of high order MIMO nonlinear multi-agent systems. The agents must follow a leader node in presence of unknown dynamics and uncertain external disturbances. The communication network topology of agents is assumed to be a fixed undirected graph. A distributed adaptive control method is proposed to solve the consensus problem utilizing re...

Learning by appraising: an emotion-based approach to intrinsic reward design

In this paper, we investigate the use of emotional information in the learning process of autonomous agents. Inspired in four dimensions commonly postulated by appraisal theories of emotions, we construct a set of reward features to guide the learning process and behavior of a reinforcement learning (RL) agent inhabiting an environment of which it has only limited perception. Much like what occ...

Human-centric framework for perceptually adaptive interfaces

Multimodal interfaces have long held the promise of enhanced and effective human machine interaction. The ultimate goal of multimodal interfaces is to facilitate human activity allowing seamless exchange of information. This goal requires a coordinated development effort that incorporates a thorough understanding of human perceptual system in the design of interfaces. In this manner, multimodal...
